What makes that one small socket. I always class boards like that peripheral if they don't have the actual socket. Is it the CPU type chip?

I based it on this:

It has everything for a mobo. Ram slots nort/south and cpu.
Not enough components for laptop (large) nor enough ics and secondaries for old (also large)

But there is no doubt it's a complete mobo minus the socket.
yes the i960 is a cpu.
