I have about 60 lbs. of what I THINK are I-series motherboards that only bring $2.25 lb. which means that, after shipping costs, I’ve only made a few bucks.

Questions:

Just take them to the scrap yard?
Take the time to remove the good stuff and ship that to Boardsort?
What would a REAL scrapper do?

All advice greatly appreciated!

The quoted price for the board includes the metal socket and you are decreasing the weight by taking that off. That extra weight will cost more to ship, but increases your total payout as well.

Leave metal clamps for the cpu in place.

REMOVE the large back bracket that is on the back. If that removes the spring clamp as well so be it.

Leaving the backplate will lower the grade.

I’m talking about the 2-5 inch square steel plate for heatsink mounting.
Not the thin steel bars that support the socket.

Large steel has to be removed. Just like large heatsinks

Oh, well, I guess I screwed that up! I THOUGHT I was doing what was required by removing those metal pieces. I thought they would just lower the value of the boards. My loss...but I'm just learning and I guess I learned that lesson the hard way, right?
