I am going to say yes. It is just an alternative technique to mount a capacitor to a PCB. Other than soldering. It is stll SMD. Getting a substantial quanity of SMD tants. Etc. To make it worthwhile can come into question. I am referring to cherry picking them from PCBs.

Probably need to contact boardsort directly for individual components. Having a large quantity probably will increase the chances but they may take just one.

I've had conversations with Chris and Bruce about these. Large quantities BS will most likely be interested in but it's the sorting and making sure you have the correct Tantalum epoxy caps. Most are yellow, orange, red, green and blue; green and blue being older/rare. All have a vertical line, or a slight "L", and a "+" , next to the line. Older caps have dotted or hashed lines but still carry the "+" or "K/M±%". Don't always look for the "K or M" on tantalum though, can get confused with other types accidently. Older capacitors will only have a positive mark, making it harder to identify because it's closely to other types of capacitors. Be observant. They will almost always look like a teardrop or water droplet.

Tantalum comes in axial versions too, being the most abundance contained tantalum but are difficult to identify. All found in hybrid and older applications.

If I'm not mistaken, They only want the yellow, red, and orange.

Common and easy to recognize axial/hermetically sealed versions ;

Spence1015. Thanks for being mindful to post that information on the capacitors. I got a decent quanity of loose capacitors from project building. Note: Nothing on reels. But. A lot in drawers. Boxes and envelopes. I know for a fact I got the yellow and blue. I highly suspected and knew many were tantalums. Had no idea Boardsort could be interested. Much of what I have are ceramic disc. And every form of mylar you can imagine. Also.
From a repair technician point of view. Those old tear drop tants can't be trusted. They are known to degrade. Explode. Burn. Smoke. Change value and what have you. Due to many factors. So. E-scrap is the solution for those old tants. Some techs see one and immediately replace it.
I may have to contact Boardsort on what I got. But. That's a long way down the road.
Your post just gave me another little project.
I am assuming. Cutting the leads back to the package is the thing to do.
Again. Thanks for your post Spence1015.
