Hey everyone,
Finally decided to stop lurking and make an account. I'm pretty new to the e-scrap world, but I recently stumbled into a couple of boxes of old computer memory sticks from a cleanout and wanted to learn the ropes.
I was looking over the Boardsort payout list and saw the different categories like Gold Fingered RAM and Silver/Tin Fingered RAM. It got me super curious about how the math actually works behind the scenes.
For those of you who have been doing this for a while, what are the actual precious metal yield estimates per pound of RAM? Like, how much actual gold is typically hiding on a pound of the gold-fingered stuff?
I've seen some random videos online of people using chemicals to recover the gold themselves, but the numbers they claim are all over the place, and honestly, the chemistry looks way over my head. Is it even worth trying to figure out the recovery yields, or do most of you just sort them by the picture guide and ship them straight in because it’s easier?
Appreciate any insights or rough numbers you guys can give to a rookie!
Thanks!
