Hello everyone. Need help with identification with boards. Also I am curious what they are used for. Pictures include with and without heat sinks for help with id. Thanks again with the help, love to learn new things on this website.

If you can get the heatsinks off they'll go as peripheral

Simply put; because they're not ram. They're power boards
If you remove ALL the copper coils, aluminium and steel you can put them in gold finger card. Looks like a few can go there already

These get posted quite frequently; usually from dell, hp, and Cisco servers.
In general there's no ram on the boards (the ICs are ROMs) and they're standard pcb Not ram pcb.

Finally the generalisation for peripheral and midgrade is because in many cases I've seen them with the spreaders riveted through the board and not screwed or glued. And first time someone breaks a board trying to snap rivets it's gonna be an argument.

Thanks for clarifying that. I saw gold fingers and thought it had to be better than peripheral , little more work involved.....

In the case for Milltown here, I'm not sure about 4 but the rest look to be screws
So making removing the spreader easy
If you (they) then cut the copper coils off you have gold finger cards.
As is without heatsinks it's peripheral.
Cut the finger off you have midgrade
Leave the heatsink on you have midgrade
Leave the heatsinks on and cut the fingers you have midgrade... +a gold finger.
:)
