Hi, I am preparing a boardsort shipment and have 2 random pieces that I would like to clarify what they'd be considered as.

The larger board is the motherboard from a mid 1980s PC -high grade telecom?

The other board is an expansion card for a late 90s PC

Thanks

EDIT: Sorry for posting this in the wrong section. I see there is a dedicated section for identification!

Smaller looks backplane but I can't see any gold in the black sockets, if you can verify the pins have gold plating I would go backplane.

Larger definitely can go high telco. You can even pull the socketed ICs if you have a IC pile. DO PULL the Battery, brown plastic says Yuksa I think, near the ports.

Thanks for the reply. On that expansion board, the only gold pins I can see are in the white slots. All the other slots appear to have silver pins.

One more question if you don't mind - on that same 80s computer, I have this HDD controller card - would it just be a gold fingered card, or because of the age and amount of old school IC's would it classify different?

So unless I'm missing something on that first smaller board, I'm thinking low peripheral.

The gfc should have enough ICs and pins there to get into high Telco.

Agreed. IMO, Board #1 is backpane ... Board #2 is high grade telecom all six ways from Sunday.

1. Low per, barely probably, if not Mid grade. No gold pins. Even if the white slots had gold pins, they're low grade quality.

2. High Tel

3. High Tel

High peripheral (big port on the back yes)
High telco (you an safely take out the ICs that are socketed

The last one is high telco but if the EPROMs are socketed pull them out and take gold finger. EPROMs are $19 a pound.

Lost', help me understand why the expansion PCI card is High per with the low quality slots that it has?

Is there something that beneficial on the back to push it up?

Aren't no window EPROMS just ICs? $16 ' ?

I just added a new topic to General E-scrap Q's about the gold inlay ICs, too. There's something I need discussed about those.

There’s two pci ports and I believe a large port on the back.

Two of those ICs are window chips.
