I have several of these boards that come out of a box of sheet aluminum. I will remove the metal bracket on the right, but there isn't much to these. There is the female pin connector on the left, a handful of ICs and the two socketed flatpacks.

I wonder if I would be better off to strip the ICs and flatpacks, break off the female pin connector, and then pull those coax connectors to throw the brass in my bucket to sell locally and toss what's left in scrap steel.

The yellow caps aren't tantalum either.

What would this be classified without the metal bracket and without the two flatpacks?

Yeah. Remove the bracket. Take the brass. Remove the Socketed ICs. But leave other chips. Take female edge connector. Then submit what is left as High Peripheral.
That is what I would do if I depopulated. Which. I don't do as a rule. But. Am aware of.

Can the steel be removed from the ports without knocking them off?

If so, remove the steel, leave everything else, high peripheral

Thanks. Marked141. I saw that. As in your response. I was just attenpting to answer the depopulation question. I as a rule do not depopulate. As you have expressed in many post. I am in agreement with your opinion. High Peripheral. With little effort. Yet many members are trying to squeeze that blood out of the turnip.
What is your opinion on my suggestions to depopulate a few components and still maintain the High Peripheral grade?
Again. I would do it your way. But. How many members ask about depopulation?

If you're trying to remove ICs I think you'd hit a downgrade pretty quick as I'm assuming the ports are heavy and the board is fairly empty. If you're removing the ports you're losing a little bit of gold and a bunch of weight so maybe you could lose several ICs.
But that's a bunch of work you don't have to do.

Steel is the only thing here I'd try to remove. It looks riveted so just get what you can without or destroying the board, if a little got left behind cause it had to be cut instead of unscrewed then that shouldn't affect anything.
