I have a large national manufacturer that wants to give me boards.

However, some of them are proprietary boards and a previous waste company sold them online. So now they won’t hand them over until the boards are broken.

Anyone have suggestions for doing this at scale?

Depends on what broken means.

If broken means broken, well just snap them.
If broke means can’t work, the easiest way is to over-volt the board not explaining that further for liability reasons. But I’ve done that often enough.

If broke means shred.
You’ve got an issue on two fronts. You need a book-and-binder level shredder or an actual materials shredder.
And it becomes a refiner’s commodity. You can’t sell eScrap shred easily for cash.

They just want to break them in half but that’s easier said than done by hand and with hundreds of them.

I suggested simply defacing the boards with spray paint but they didn’t feel that’s sufficient so trying to help them stop accumulating and start handing the material over once prepared.

I’ve seen a guy on YouTube somewhere that used a large press to crack 50+ at a time.

Honestly if the value is worth it to you just find a metal or concrete step and snap them with your foot one or two at a time.

Maybe spraying them with salt water. That will "break" them.
